Skeexiz presents Sassy with her award.

I would like to at this time to thank everyone that has been involved with the CCSI series and without their help and encouraging words I would not be standing here now. I cannot remember all of the names of those who have helped me along the way so I will not do individual names as I do not want to forget anyone. I owe so many who have reached out to me along the way and this award is because of the help you have given to me in the many areas of production and keeping me going with kind words when I was ready to quit. I owe all of you so much and hope that you know how important and how I so value your friendships. A big thank you to Skeexiz for hosting the aCATemy Awards and honoring all of those so deserving of this award. It is my pleasure and honor to accept this prestigious award and I shall treasure it always. Again thank you to all.

New York, New York

I received the most wonderful invitation from my sissy Momo. She was going to take Charlotte, Charybdis, and Scylla New York City for some shopping and wanted to know if I would like to join her. I immediately said yes and plans were made for shopping, theatre, and catching up with our other sister, Asta.

Our hotel reservations were made for us to stay at the Ritz-Carlton overlooking Central Park. This hotel has one of the most prestigious addresses in the world. Offering some of the most spectacular views of Central Park from guest rooms and suites. Wanting to spend more time with us Asta stayed at the hotel with us while the younger kitties stayed at Charlotte's cousin whose apartment was also across from Central Park. Asta

Central Park is a large public park, 843 acres, in Manhattan. With about twenty-five million visitors annually, Central Park is the most visited city park in the United States, and its appearance in many movies and television shows has made it famous.

Sassy, Asta, and Momo shop at Tiffany's and find many things to purchase.

Tiffany's flagship store (since 1940) is located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 57th Street in Manhattan. It is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The polished granite exterior is well known for its tiny window displays. The store has been the location for a number of films including Breakfast at Tiffany's and Sweet Home Alabama.

Running into an old friend of Sassy's, Donald, we stop to take our photos together. After the photo session Donald treated us all to dinner at the top of the Trump Towers, what a beautiful view of the city.

The George Gershwin Theatre was originally named the Uris. When it opened in 1972 it was the first large Broadway theatre to be built since the Earl Carroll in 1931. The Gershwin Theatre has largest seating capacity of any Broadway theatre (excepting the New York State Theatre and the City Center). It was designed for lavish musicals and has also been successful as a showcase house for personal appearances and dance companies.

Leaving the theatre after a magnificent performance.

Wicked is a musical telling the story of Elphaba, the future Wicked Witch of the West and her relationship with Glinda, the Good Witch of the North. The plot is set mostly prior to Dorothy's arrival from Kansas.

Visiting Rockefeller Center
l-r: Sassy, Charybdis, Charlotte, Momo, Scylla, Asta.

After a good night's rest we all got up early and met at the Rockefeller Center where we had breakfast overlooking the ice rink. Rockefeller Center is a complex of nineteen commercial buildings covering 22 acres between 48th and 51st Streets. Built by the Rockefeller family, it is located in the center of Midtown Manhattan, spanning between Fifth Avenue and Seventh Avenue. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987.

Charlotte had the great idea of going over to the Today Show after we had breakfast. We were so fortunate to get a front row view of Matt, Meridith, and Al when they were outside. There was a problem that day when Ann lost her voice just before air time. Needing someone to do the news segment Matt picked someone from the crowd to do it for them . . .

. . . what an honor to be chosen to do this but I must say I was really nervous. After the program a group photo was taken, Meridith had to leave early to pick up her little girl from school and is missing from the photo.

Next on the schedule was our guest appearance on The View. It seems that Barbara Walters had heard about the blogging going on in the kitty/doggie world and was interested in discussing it on the program. She also was interested in the NOMSS and how cats and dogs could be sisters and brothers. With all of these subjects to discuss the full hour of the show was needed to give all the facts out for the viewers to learn about.

Checking out of the Carlton-Ritz and getting ready to head for home.
l-r: Sassy, Charlotte & Scylla

After a busy morning it was time to head back to the hotel and pack up and get over to the airport. Our short stay in the city was coming to and end and it was time to go home. What fun it was to visit the city, see our sissy Asta, shop, sight see, meet old friends, go to the theatre, and get a taste of the television industry.

Heading for home we all settle into our comfy seats and say good bye to wonderful New York City. I don't know about Momo or the young kitties but I am already planning my next trip.

Be sure to head over to Momo's and Asta's place to check out what they had to say about the trip.

Presidents' Day

Happy Presidents' Day George and Abe!

Presidents' Day is celebrated in February to honor two of our greatest presidents, Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. The holiday is celebrated in the United States on the third Monday in February.

Presidents Day, officially known as Washington's Birthday, is a federal holiday in the United States and is celebrated on the third Monday of February. Although it has become known as a great weekend for sales, especially on cars, there's a lot more to the holiday. Presidents Day is a good chance to learn more about American History, civic responsibility and even U.S. geography.

George Washington (February 22, 1732-December 14, 1799). was the first President of the United States, (1789–1797), after leading the Continental Army to victory over the Kingdom of Great Britain in the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783). Washington was chosen to be the Commander-in-chief of the American revolutionary forces in 1775. Washington died in 1799, and in his funeral oration, Henry Lee said that of all Americans, he was "first in war, first in peace, and first in the hearts of his countrymen." Washington has been consistently ranked by scholars as one of the greatest U.S. Presidents.

Opus Washington constant companion to the American General.

Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 -April 15, 1865) was the sixteenth President of the United States, serving from March 4, 1861 until his assassination. As an outspoken opponent of the expansion of slavery in the United States, Lincoln won the Republication Party nomination in 1860 and was elected president later that year. During his term, he helped preserve the United States by leading the defeat of the secessionist Confederate States of America in the American Civil War. He introduced measures that resulted in the abolition of slavery, issuing his Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 and promoting the passage of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution in 1865. Lincoln has been rated by scholars among the top three U.S. Presidents, with the majority of those surveyed placing him first.

Mount Katsmore National Memorial, located near Mount Rushmore in South Dakota, is a monumental granite sculpture, with 60-foot of the heads of former United States presidential pets, Roscoe Lincoln (1809-18565), Momo Jefferson (1743-1826), Opus Washington (1732-1799), and Sassy Roosevelt (1858-1919) are considered to have been among the greatest of confidents to their President. The entire memorial covers 1,278 acres, and is 5,725 feet (1,745 m) above sea level. The memorial attracts approximately five million people annually compared to the two million people that visit Mt. Rushmore.

History Trivia:

Sassy Ross

Betsy Ross is best known as the designer of the first United States flag, though most historians give little credence to the legend. To set this legend straight the facts are as follows. The so-called "Betsy Ross Flag" had 13 stars and stripes. It is believed that, George Washington said that all stars should be placed in a circle so that no colony would be viewed above another. The Ross story is based solely on oral affidavits from her daughter and other relatives, which were made public in 1870 by her grandson, William J. Canby, in a paper read before the Historical Society of Pennsylvania. No primary sources of the time—letters, journals, diaries, newspaper articles, official records, or business records—have surfaced since 1870 confirming or disproving the story.

The only record of the true documentation proving who was involved in the designing of the flag points to Sassy Ross. This valuable record of history is guarded safely in the archives of the Smithsonian Museum located in Washington DC.

I have a challenge for you if you want to take me up on it and that is to ask yourself a history question that you do not know the answer to. Then I challenge you to seek out the answer and make a post about it on your blog. Are you up to that?

Valentine's Cruise

Sassy & Emil on deck before the dance.

The 2008 Valentine's Love Cruise hosted by Momo is now a wonderful memory. Momo hosted one of the finest cruise's I have been on, paying attention to the tiniest detail, her guests were left to want for nothing.

Opus helping out the crew in the pilot house of the cruise ship.

We left port from a pier near the iconic Harbour Bridge in Sydney, Australia. Soon after we were on our way the call for lunch was announced. A wonderful meal was served and as we ate we enjoyed the spetacular view of Sydney's coastline. The food table was magnificant with choices of canapes, salmon platter, cold meats platter, meatballs in ricotta cause, prawn salad and sushi, and sashimi. After stuffing our faces with lunch desserts were then offered to all of the guests who could find room to eat more. After lunch we could relax in the different lounges or go ashore and explore the beautiful sandy beaches. I stayed on the ship and rested up because I knew the best was yet to come, dinner and dancing in the evening.

Sassy & Roscoe enjoying the scenic coastline of Syndey.

When we returned to Syndey the lights of the city were just coming on and it was time to gather in the lounge for cocktails. After cocktails we all went to the ship's restaurant and settled in to enjoy choices of filet with lump crabmeat, flounder imperial, lobster imperial, or surf and turf with crabmeat. Served for dessert was a mousse Valentine specially commissioned by my sissy Asta, too delicious. After dinner we retired to the lounge for coffee, cognac and port, you could feel the excitement in the lounge as we all anticipated the upcoming dance.

Two sweethearts at the dance, Socks & Sissy Momo.

Many photos were taken during the Valentine's Love Cruise and these are a few of the ones that I have. You can tell that every cat/doggie enjoyed themselves on this cruise. Thank you so much Momo for hosting this spectacular Valentine's event!! I hope that this might be a yearly event too.

Momo is hosting a Love Cruise for Valentine's Day. Be sure to stop over and see what is going on, all are invited. Hope to see you there.

ps: I just received this beautiful Valentine's card from Emil along with this message: "They (Karl and Ruis) are always telling me I am too young for this kind of thing. But I don't see why I can not have Sassy as my Valentine too!!! They have each other, right? And it is just a Valentine, right? It is not like I want to MARRY Sassy! I just want to be part of it! Emil from The Cat Realm."

I must say that I am blown away by Emil's wanting to be his Valentine. I think Emil is such a sweetie and would like to get to know him. I am more than ever looking forward to the Valentine's Love Cruise sponsered by Momo. This could be the start of something good!
