A Message From Moth

It is with a heavy heart and sadness that I am letting you all know that Sassy has been MIA since May. She prefered to spend her time outside though we tried to bring her in with the family. Around the time she left our other two cats, Guy and Punkie, disappeared too. About this time there were several tom cats around so we think that they thought things were too croweded her and moved on. Guy at one time was missing for nine months and came back, so I am hopeful that Sas will show up one day.

On several occasions I have spotted a black cat in the area but cannot get a good look. I am hoping that all of them are safe and found a nice farm where they are enjoying their new digs.  There are so many farms out here where they can find food and shelter.

My head tells me one thing but my heart tells me another. I have decided to listen to my heart, it makes things a little easier. She had many adventures during her almost two years of blogging so I have decided to retire Sassy's blog with  a little send off that will be held tomorrow. Please stop by tomorrow and say your farewells. Please don't be too sad just pray that she is safe somewhere.

I am so glad that I am the first to visit today. You see I am trying to help the mom and dad fill a little hole in their hearts that you left there when you went away. They miss you and are always looking when they are out in the car to see if they can spot you.

I never met you, though we are sisters, but I have heard about you. I will try to make each day for the mom and dad happy. I am not replacing you, you always will be close to the family and in their hearts. I am sharing their hearts that they opened up to me as they did to you.

Know that you are thought of each day and we hope you are safe.

Ssorry for the two boo boos, that was me.

We know this was very hard for you to share. We too are keeping hope alive that Sassy and the other two cats are okay and will one day wander back. We have enjoyed Sassy's adventures immensely and have missed her. We are glad her sister Gracie is there to comfort and encourage you.

Purrs and tail wags.

We have had feral cats who have come to eat at our house as well. Some show up and stay a short time, while others come to stay as a part of our daily lives. Sooner or later they leave and we don't see them again. I like to think that they too have moved on or perhaps found families to call their own.
I am sure that Sassy, Punkie, and Guy are out there somewhere. Runing through the fields of Indiana and having all new adventures.
We will miss Sassy, but will always keep a light for her just in case she desides to return home.

We're sorry that Sassy has gone...but we purray that she might return one day...you never know...

It is always such a gamble when a cat is allowed to go outside. Their lives are shortened by about 2/3 outside. I taught mine to stay inside the minute I brought them home. I am so sorry for the kitty, who is most likely dead with the others.

To Moth:
The maid has a friend in Maryland living in the same situation. They feed several stray cats, and some made their permanent home in the barn, others come and go. Some sometimes are gone for many month and show up again, others don't. Which means they might have moved on to another barn. We think Sassy is just fine, she is living the live she wants, and in farm country she will always find plenty of food and shelter!
AS you know we know all about the danger and heartbreak of outside cats - we also know they thoroughly enjoy every minute they have.
Sassy is fine. And Gracie will help you mend that hole in your heart!
Don't be too sad - Sassy wouldn't want it!

I also hope that Sassy is just off on another one of her adventures and will come back some day. You never know. She may be with another family for a while. At least you know that there is plenty of food for her around and lots of barns to take shelter in.

We, at one time, fed some four cats who were either strays or greedy neighborhood cats. One by one they went missing. Some may have died while we think (and hope) that some found good homes. Hanibal was the last stray cat we fed. He hasn't been seen now for several weeks. We named him Hanibal because we was beating up the other stray Italian cats(which were all males) Well, now that there are no more cats to beat up on, Hanibal has also moved on (or he headed south for the winter). And do you know what showed up in our yard just the other day? A RAT! Can you believe it? Of all the NERVE! He was standing in our yard just looking up at our window like "what are ya gonna do about it indoor cats".
We hope one day that Hanibal or the others return to show that rat a thing or two. In the same way we hope that Sassy and her friends who we never knew, will find her way back. Even if she doesn't feel like sticking around, it sure would be nice of her just to say hello.

Maybe Gracie was sent you, like Milou (who has since dispeared) was sent to us just two days after Roscoe went the bridge. She will never replace Sassy, but we sure hope that she mends the hole in your hearts. And I think things will be different this time, since she will be an indoor cat.

Much love,
Opus, Ollie, and Cyn

This post made us feel really really sad - wondering and now knowing for sure about Sassy. We have to believe that wherever she is, she is comfortable, and even trying to get that message to you. It is only through faith that God's little creatures are all ultimately taken care of that let's us genuinely believe the Sassy is in good hands right now. Keep watching for her, and listen carefully to the breezes. She is purring somewhere. And someday, we believe, you'll be together again.

We were infrequent visitors to her blog, but we did visit. Sissie Asta sent us there for the first time a few months ago. And she is who has kept us posted. Though you don't know us ... we sort of know you, Sassy and family, and we truly care.

It's taken Mumsie four trys to type this over a two day span...

You see Mumsie had a kitty that looked just like Sassy...and she has a very soft spot in her heart for black felines even though it's all about the canines at our housie...(of course, our hooman sissy has three kitties...one black like Sassy, one all white and a tuxedo...very sweet cats, but for some reason they don't like us...)

We will be keeping Sassy close to our hearts and hoping that she's safe and happy. We are thilled that Gracie came into your lives...

Purring barks....

It still feels unreal that we will never see you again, Sassy.
The typist was away this week and I could do nothing but sleep and dream about our dearest black girlfriend. I barely ate.

Now, I think you just started your own adventure in the big world outside, and the day we all meet again you'll tell us all about it!

The only question... we will find Karl & I now when we are on a romantic vacation???

I will miss you, Sassy, but NEVER forget!! Thank you for calling me a friend!

Love & nose kisses to where you are...

Just catching up on all the blogs (my internet time and connection is pretty unreliable at the moment during our move), and I am so sad to learn that Sassy has gone - but in my heart I feel I knew her so well, shared so much, and I always imagine that that is just what a cat like Sassy would do, being so independent and aloof at times, doing things her way. Wherever she is, our hearts will always be with her. Please stay in touch and let this wonderful blogging community continue to shine hope and love into your heart. (I, too, am blogging sans-animal!)
