Venice Landmarks

More photos have arrived from our Italian photographers, Opus and Roscoe. They captured the 2008 Carnival gang at three of Venice's most prominent landmarks.

The Rialto Bridge is the true heart of Venice. The current structure was built in just three years, between 1588 and 1591, as a permanent replacement for the boat bridge and three wooden bridges that had spanned the Grand Canal at various times since the 12th Century. The Rialto Bridge's 24-foot arch was designed to allow passage of galleys, and the massive structure was built on some 12,000 wooden pilings that still support the bridge more than 400 years later.

St. Mark's Basilica, the cathedral of Venice, is the most famous of the city's churches and one of the best known examples of Byzantine architecture. The cathedral site on St. Mark's Square and was originally the "chapel" of the Venetian rulers, and not the city's cathedral. Since 1807 it has been the seat of the Patriarch of Venice, archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice. For the opulent design and its status as a symbol of Venetial wealth and power, from the 11th century the building was known by the nickname Chiesa d'Oro, church of gold.

Antonio Contino's bridge over the Rio di Palazzo was erected in the year 1600 to connect the Doge's prisons with the inquisitor's rooms in the main palace. The name "Bridge of Sighs" was inspired by the sighs of condemned prisoners as they were led through it to the executioner.

I cannot wait until next year for Carnival in Venice so I am planning on a trip in the fall. Mark your calendar as all are invited to join me.

Award Times Four

Jans Funny Farm Gang

I am so happy to say that I have received three awards last week. The first award I received was The Warm And Caring Award presented to me by Jans Funny Farm. This award goes to a kitty who goes the extra stretch to be a warm and carring kitty to their mom, dad and others. Jan's gang said that they wanted me to have this award for including so many kitties and woofies in the wild adventures we go on. I am honored and appreciate that Jan's gang presented me with this award, thank you so much.



I would like to pass this award on to my sissy, Momo, as she always includes all kitties and woofies when she is planning parties, visits, or away adventures. She also is a sissy, as I am, to three doggies and a lot of her good friends are doggies. She treasures all of her friends whether they are kitty or a woofie and is always making friends with new visitors, having fun with all that come by to visit with her.



My next award, Friend Of A Woofie, was given to me by Karl. I want to thank Karl for this award and I am so touched that he thought of me. This award represents a blogger that has a woofie as a friend or for kitties that have woofies as brothers and sisters. I also will proudly display this award on my blog. Karl gave me this award because I just became the NOMSS friend and NMOSS sissy to Asta. I thank him for thinking of me.

My friends Tybalt, Holly, and Ivy also presented me with the Friend Of A Woofie award today. I am so happy to again receive this award as it is a testimonial to my new doggie friends, and family, of all of the fun we all have when we are together. As I mentioned earlier I have three doggie sissies and a little doggie brother.



The rules of this award are: To give this award to at least one blogger who has a woofie as a friend. If they let a woofie blog sometimes, posts information on woofie safety, or just love to cuddle with a woofie of their own, then send this award to them. I saw this award and knew right away that this award needed to go to Jans Funny Farm. They have so many kitties and woofies at their place I sometimes cannot keep track of everyone of them. They are always helping woofies in need that are lost, needing to find new homes, needing finanical aid to pay animal doctor bills or heading out on adventures with me. Jans Funny Farm is a great place to be and all of the kittie and doggie brothers and sisters have a good mommie.



My third award was presented by me by one of my dearest friends, Ruis. This award is a new award designed by Ruis and his typist. I am so surprised and greatly appreciative that he would honor me with this award. I was the second to receive the Golden Paw award, Karl received the first. I shall treasure this moment and words are hard to find how pleased I am that I received this award. Your kind words about me touched me deeply

Ruis's own paw was used to make this award. The Golden Paw is to be given to cats, dogs or any animal or human bean that have lent a special helping paw/hand to another cat, dog, animal or human bean. You may give this award to as many individuals as you want to thank for lending you a helping paw/hand. If you don't need it now, save it, and you can give it when needed.

When Ruis gave me this award he said " he, Ruis, has a special girlfriend Sassy! After I got without the typist, Sassy introduced me into the world of football, the Super Bowl. Together with Karl and many friends she encouraged us to go with her to the cheerleaders academy! She took me and Karl and her family members to Venice, the Carnival! And whenever I feel a little down, and Karl is not around, she makes a smile on my face! Thank you dear Special friend!!"



I have spent a lot of time thinking about who I want to present the Golden Paw award to and I would like to send it along with the Friend Of A Woofie award to Jans Funny Farm. She helps out so many over at her place and is so deserving of this award. I want her and the gang to know how much I appreciate all of the hard work that they do for others in need.

Again thank you Jans Funny Farm gang, Karl, and Ruis for these wonderful awards! Your kindness is greatly appreciated.

On the way back traveling home in Opus and Roscoe's time machine a few day ago, we relived the Colts 2007 Super Bowl win, we thought it might be fun to take a side trip to Venice to be there for Carnival 2008.

It was such an exciting adventure and found that when I arrived in Venice there were many of my friends waiting. To my surprise Karl, Mrs Oz, Emil, Ruis, Percy, Charlie, Socks, Scylla, Charybdis were in San Marco Square having their photos taken for the torurists. If that wasn't enough of a surprise my new siblings, Asta, Momo, Momo and Pinot were there too!

The weather couldn't have been more perfect, sunlight and modest temperatures, no need to worry about the cold. I hope we make this a yearly event and maybe next year more of our friends will be able to peruse this beautiful city during Carnival. This is such an experience you will remember it always.

With all of the beautiful costumes and masks it was hard to tell who was there. I hope I didn't walk by some cat or doggie and not notice you, pardon me if I missed seeing you.

Happy Birthday Tia

Back in January my sissy, Asta, asked if I would want to go over to Tia's place in celebration of her fifteenth birthday. A big party was planned for the celebration and I was looking forward to meeting a new friend. Unfortunately, Tia became ill and had to be taken to the kitty doctor. Her birthday was celebrated with her family worring about her health and Tia trying to get well.

I am so happy to say that Tia is doing great and with this happy news Asta, Momo, and myself have decided today, after checking with the mom of the house, to have a surprise belated birthday party for Tia.

Kittynapped

As you can tell my by my sign the mom of the house still isn't too much fun yet. I must say she is barking like a little doggie, too bad. Nothing to do but lay around and hope that she gets better, no fun.

I am glad that I have my memories of this last weekend and will spend today thinking back on being kittynapped. You see Opus and Roscoe thought it would be fun to get a time machine and travel to a year ago when the Colts won the Super Bowl game. The next thing I knew I was whisked off with them in a pretty scarey machine and we relived the excitement of that day. The biggest surprise of the day was when Roscoe did the half time show instead of Prince. Stop by their place and read all about it on their February 4 post.

Yeah COLTS!

Contagious Mom

It really isn't this bad but I think that the Dad of the house might wish that he had one of these outfits to wear. The mom has picked up a virus in the last few days and is in a full blown cold alert. She felt so bad it required a visit to the doctor today and he gave her medication to take. She even had to gave up a Super Bowl party that she was to attend last night, poor mom of the house.

The sweet dad of the house brought home her favorite when the throat is sore, hot and sour soup. This made her so happy and think maybe even feel a little better or a minute or two.

What a wonderful sissy I have! Momo has invited me along with Asta, Opus, and Roscoe to go to the biggest party going on now in Rio. With our moms being sick we put them into bed and headed out to see what fun we could find.
